HASHIMA ISLAND RETREAT

Sited on an Island named Hashima Island at the South-west coast of Japan, this project acts as a prototype for the envisioned New Wardencliffe Tower, which explores the idea of Creative Economy, Self Regenerative System, and Vertical Farming, in response to the current global economic recession, food crisis, and energy issues. The Scheme is developed as a retreat for the emerging creative class in Far east Asia, combining with existing tourist industry and local agricultural industry, in order to regenerate this former coal mining site.
